It is amazing the amount of self-proclaimed asexuals that suddenly give up on the label as soon as they manage to get a girlfriend. I think it just means some guy who isn't getting laid and is overly defensive about it.

Beware anyone who calls himself an "involuntary asexual," and beware anyone who says he's "asexual by choice." (I don't mean to stereotype, but these do seem to largely be guys.) The folks who're actually asexual just say they're asexual.

"Involuntary asexual" confuses me, because that's kind of redundant, you know? Like everyone else, I didn't choose my sexuality. Except I guess those guys mean "involuntary celibate", which is... ugh. I'd just like to have a legit term I could easily use when someone asks if I'm straight/whatever without having to explain in detail or getting into a debate. It's sometimes tiring to pretend that you're totally into relationships or to have an awkward discussion that you're actually not.

I always thought "involuntary asexual" was a mocking self-joke.

It has been every time my friends have used it, when they were single.
