Me either! I don't know why. But I think I made this secret looking for someone else who felt the same.

Solidarity, lol! It makes me really sad that nearly all of the SHIELD fic that pops up on my f-list is Skye/Ward. :(

I just didn't like the idea of it (too obvious, not overtly convinced by the actors chemistry) before the last couple episodes, but then Ward went and made vague rape threats to Skye and it became a whole lot of DNW for me.

That said I'm fine with letting other people ship it, but I get why you don't and although I'm not really involved in the fandom, we can't be the only ones that don't ship it. (Isn't Skye/Simmons about the second most popular ship in the show?)

Kinda? It seems to me that romantic!FitzSimmons is probably the most generally agreed-upon ship in the fandom, with either Skye/Ward or Skye/Simmons coming in second. It has gotten enough attention that Chloe and Elizabeth will talk about it in interviews and stuff, which makes me happy (that's my ship). Weirdly enough, some Skye/Ward people seem to see it as a threat because they got it in their heads that Skye/Simmons shippers don't like Ward? Which is interesting to me because I don't know that I've ever seen a ship war between a het ship and a femslash ship, at least not in a fairly popular fandom like this. /tl;dr

Ah, right, I totally forgot about FitzSimmons being so popular (as a ship). I can see why it would be popular, even though I'm never quite sure if I ship it or not.

This bit is confusing me, because...why does it matter? (Plus, again, I'm sure plenty of people dislike Ward, no matter what they ship.)

Why would them not liking the character make Skye/Simmons a threat to Skye/Ward? Weird.

Sad as it is to say, I doubt AoS would put one of their main characters in a same sex relationship anyway, but I would be delighted if they did. IMO Skye/Ward is more likely to happen than Skye/Simmons.

I'm the same way, OP! The NOPE is strong with this one for me. Even back earlier in the season I was shaking my head about it, but after he was revealed to be Hydra and it became very clear that he just wanted to ~have~ her or whatever and it wasn't actually about what she wanted anymore, I can't handle it. I don't know what I'll do if the show tries to make it a canon thing, like if the writers try to make her ~fix him with love~ or something. Just. Oh my god no. (I don't have any friends who ship it, but I think it would be one thing if they acknowledge the fucked-up nature of the ship. The happy AUs make me kinda uncomfortable, but I guess people have done that for much worse ships. What really freaks me out is when people try to argue that Skye's going to turn to the ~dark side~ like Ward. I just don't really see how you could come up with that interpretation and expect it to be canon, but that's me.)

What I'm rooting for is for him to be her foil and the narrative to explicitly point out that a) a bad/abusive childhood doesn't have to lead to you being a horrible dickbag and b) Ward's bad choices are not excused by his being an abuse victim, even if he somehow repents of his actions. Because that seems to be what they're going for, at least to me, and I really hope I'm right.

See, I like Ward, I think he is a complicated character, and I think he and Skye could have an interesting relationship in terms of recovery (her part) and redemption (his part, though after Garrett it would be a fair bit of recovery on his part, too). They would have a delightfully complicated relationship and I would love to see or read about that.

But most fic just ignores the finale and it completely OOC fluff.

That's why I don't bother with Skye/Ward fandom. Love the idea, hate what's actually out there right now.

You are far from alone on this one. I'm a dyed in the wool multishipper and there's very little I hit DNW stages with but Skye/Ward is definitely on that list. For the first bit of the season it just seemed boring and cliche and now? Now he did the whole "take what I want" vague rape threat thing (on top of trying to kill Melinda while making sex jokes about her) and the DNW grew and grew.
