(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)There's a big difference to me between "Soda causes dehydration; drink more water to feel better throughout the day!" and "Drinking water instead of soda helps prevent obesity!" One sounds like good general advice that isn't singling anyone out, and the other, no matter how nice you try to say it, is always going to sound to me like, "Your body is defective; get it out of my face. Also, now that you know how to stop being defective, there's no excuse."
I don't mean this as an argument, just a partial explanation. I'm already pro-water. I just also feel like I get where your angry soda friend is coming from.
