Just a few of them, to be fair.

But CHRIST are they LOUD.

I read this article the other day:

http://threatquality.com/2013/05/26/dramaturgery-star-trek-into-darkness/

And some Spuhura shipper wrote a HUGE response to a minor aside and said to the author:

“In short, it’s not all about the men only and perhaps you don’t give a shit about the women but these men do and it’s disingenuous to pretend that there is no obvious emotional connection between the members of the opposite sex.”

Just because he made a two sentence remark in his giant essay about Spock and Kirk being the only emotional relationship that even kind of works. And even then, he said it was most likely accidental.

Like, sorry, but having issues with how women are portrayed in the reboots =/= not giving a shit about women.

That article is wonderful.

Kirk and Spock's relationship in that movie only makes sense to me through the "they are so fucking in love" lens.

I thought so as well, admittedly. It was really the most enjoyable part of the movie for me (one of the ONLY enjoyable things to be completely honest). But I've had Spuhura fans call me racist and sexist for saying so. And that one commentator clearly had no qualms telling the author of that piece that he was a misogynist for his (what seemed to me) innocent side note.

I'm sorry I interpret the scenes differently than they do. But I don't think that justifies their attacks and I'm SICK of it.

Slightly OT -- I'm always amused when people talk about Spock/Uhura (who I happen to ship) in terms of race, because Spock is half alien, ffs! Whoever you ship him with, species surely trumps race or sex?!
