I get the feeling that Cheney sees himself as a pragmatist in a sea of hopeless idealists who is the one keeping them safe in their beds by doing what needs to be done. And if he makes a profit off of it, well, all the better for him (in his own mind at least).

I actually think Cheney ENJOYS the comparisons to Darth Vader -- he likes being seen as powerful and effective.

But, scarily enough, I think he also believes that what he's doing is RIGHT for America. That freaks me out a bit. He seems like the type of man to scream "You can't handle the truth!"
