I'm basically cut off from Star Wars as a 'religious experience'. My entire family, we like Star Wars, we like Star Trek, we watch a whole lot of stuff together. I'd say I'm a casual fan, but I do quite enjoy Star Wars (heck, I don't even mind the prequels too much, mostly!). Nobody around me has hashed it to death. Lucky me, I guess.

It's kind of impossible to avoid it, really. It's everywhere. It's so ingrained itself into the cultural fabric here in the US that it is almost impossible to go at least a day without a Star Wars reference worked into something. The only way you can really avoid it is if you lived in a basement all your life, and even then you might find the Christmas Special on VHS or something.
