I am not a big fan of the Sailor Moon Manga. There are some aspects that I like and I love the art, but I hate how the main villains just show up once or twice to pose and attack and then get killed. I hate the lack of character development and this is what I hate the most.

That except for Sailor Moon the other soldiers are not allowed to have a life besides "Protect the Princess" or "Protect the Planet." Can't live their dreams, not allowed to fall in love (Except for Michiru and Haruka) When Mercury and Jupiter got their crystals they were told to stop thinking about what they want to be someday and focus only on "Protect the Princess."

Usagi gets to live her dream...of BEING A BRIDE. Oh wow such a great and inspiring dream. The others had such great aspirations and dreams.
To be a doctor
To be like their grandfather and take care of the temple
To own a flower shop and a cake shop
To be an idol
To be a violinist
To be a Professional Racer
To be a fashion designer
To be a nurse.

In the first anime only Michiru and Haruka talked about giving it up while Usagi wished they would continue their dreams.

I never read the manga. Kinda glad about that now, one of my favorite things about the original anime is that all of the characters had their own motivations, their own story arcs, their own lives. Even Naru got her own storyline, and she was just a side character. But the manga (and now the reboot) seems very much Usagi-centric.
