Some TMNT stuff

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
IDG the complaint that CGI is fake and it was better when special effects "were there". Full disclosure, I'm thinking specifically of Nostalgia Critic's review on the TMNT movie, where he couldn't shut up about how awesome the animatronics were. They were awkward with stilted expressions, no better or worse than the newer stuff design-wise, and the fact that they were "there" doesn't change much. But beyond that, I don't get what some people have against CGI. I'd rather have that than the awkward, restricting special effects many older movies had.

Also, I wish there was more merchandise for the 2003 series. I'm not a fan of the 80's or the newer one, but all the shirts and buttons are only for those two :/

I feel you on that second one, anon. I was shopping with my mom the other day and saw a shirt with 80s TMNT on it and my mom joked that I should buy it because she knows I love the franchise, and all I could think was that if it was 2003 Turtles I might've actually bought it. 2003 series is my favorite and it makes me sad that it gets largely ignored because it's apparently too old to target to fans of the current series, but too new to thrive on nostalgia.
