I watched Transformers to take my mind off Five Nights at Freddys and has impressive night terrors combining the two, so I totally feel you.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-25 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
My first exposure to FNAF was when a Transformers askblog I follow decided to livestream it Saturday night, so I've been thinking about how they could combine all weekend. You have my sympathy. (Fortunately I don't have night terrors.)

Oh god, animitronic Bumblebee is coming to stuff you into a megatron suit (so spikey) and he's doing nothing but playing the sound of children laughing over "you've got the touch" looped again and again...

O_O

Who needs sleep tonight?

And now I'm trying to figure out how the animatronics would line up with the TF characters. I'm most familiar with Prime, and that fortunately has a main Autobot cast of five, so I'm figuring Optimus as Freddy (leader-type, most physically intimidating), probably Bumblebee as Golden Freddy (small, yellow), Arcee as Foxy (fastest), and Bulkhead and Ratchet are probably interchangeable as Bonnie and Chica. Autobots, because they're the "cutest" and because the Decepticons rotate too much for me to be able to line them up as well.

Lol, I almost missed the shadow in this picture. I haven't played these games, but from what I've read and seen Dramatical Murder is pretty disturbing itself sometimes. (I know there were a few bits in my playthrough that were massive dnw, though okay, not horror like.)

My sympathies, OP; that sounds rough.

(OT: How's the anime? I've only watched the first... Two, maybe three episodes; aren't all the love interests getting their own episodes? How does that work, do the episodes all start right before Platinum Jail?)

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I was worried I made it too obvious!

Those games are not so much disturbing as they give you a very good reason to not want to sleep.

(I don't know, I haven't played the original game, and I am not sure what you mean by "Start right before Platinum Jail". The plot is moving along, and I am enjoying it).

They must be something else though if they made you not want to sleep! Now I'm curious, but I feel like watching a playthrough this close to bedtime would be a bad idea...

(Ah, okay. I thought maybe the anime was having Aoba get together with each of the characters. Like, every episode past a certain point was self contained and explored a different route. Maybe I should just catch up.)

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
The Deep Sleep Series' setting is, to quote the creator, a lucid dream gone wrong. To say more would be spoilers, but it carries the implication that even in your dreams you are not safe.

Ooo, goody, what I need is a deep-seated fear of falling asleep!

(Lol, I wonder how long this game would haunt you after playing... A night isn't bad, a week would be so not worth it.)

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
For me couple of days, and the nights where I watch DMMD.

Unfortunately, anime adaptations of BL dating games never include the sex or the dating :( There are always just tiny allusions to it and that's it. The Noiz/Aoba kiss was all we're probably gonna get.

(Actually, now that I think of it, that goes for every dating game ever, not just BL games. Uta no Prince-sama, Kamigami no Asobi, etc... all of them didn't include one single route and instead opted to have small romantic moments with each character where there was no definitive endgame character for the heroine)

Togainu no Chi's adaptation was the same. the focus is always on the plot.

They probably don't want to risk pissing off fans of any special pairing. By not making any of the available pairings anime-canon, they try to avoid fans of the other pairings jumping ship.

Ah, okay. I had heard others say similar things re: the no hooking up in BL anime, and I didn't expect hardcore sex or anything, but thought there might be a LITTLE something more. I'm not sure how I got confused into thinking each character was getting their own route, but now I wish that were the case. I... Kinda didn't think Dramatical Murder had enough plot to stretch out over an entire season, lmao. Hopefully it translates well at least? Idk, it doesn't look great, but maybe the plot has picked up in the last couple episodes.

Thanks for the info! If I was ever going to dip my toe in BL again, it would probably be the games themselves.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
at first i thought it was just gonna be a straight shooter (heh) anime without the routes but i did hear that the guys got their own episodes.

as for the anime itself: IT'S TERRIBLE. the art is godawful especially in episode 3. i hadn't move past that yet myself because of how awful it was!

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
The animation in that was a mistake. They released a better animated version.

A lot of studios do that on purpose so that people will buy the DVDs/Blu-Rays since they overhaul a lot of the badly drawn frames/animations later on for the release ;)

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a great tumblr series which collects screenshots of the worst frames. It's beautiful.

Man, I'm so confused on the route thing... I guess each character gets their back story but Aoba doesn't really hook up with any of them. How disappointing.

The animation is pretty bad from the earlier episodes... Lol. I was shocked to see how different some of the characters looked; it was not the best translation. Still, I hear it gets better? The animation at least... Everything else, who knows.

mink's play through alone is horror enough for me

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I knew someone would say something like this!
Well, I expected "This game is already a horror!" so, close enough.

tw: rape, bestiality

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
it says a lot about me that I'm ok with the random animal robot rape and held against his will slavery, but not the way aoba seems obsessed with getting mink to like him. ...after constant raping. like. damn, boy, seriously...?

then again, aoba had no choice in the former situations, but the latter... aoba why, why, WHY do you keep wanting mink-senpai to notice you??? I mean, you'd think after the second time the dude raped him that he'd stop getting the dude's face and quit trying to figure out why mink continues with the raping.

i had one of the ugliest frowns on my face during mink's playthrough. the whole thing starts off with mink letting his gang almost rape aoba. it's just

he's a horrible character, there's nothing redeemable about mink except maybe his hair and his All-Mate. sorry your entire family died m8 but wtf????????

Rape Is Love

Re: tw: rape, bestiality

(Anonymous) 2014-08-26 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of Mink's route either and it was the first one I played through (I thought he was hot...). Also I wasn't using a walkthrough, so I got the bad ending first. My dislike was somewhat lessened when I played through his re:connect routes, but still ... bleh.

For me, however, I thought Trip and Virus's route was much, much worse. ESPECIALLY Trip's re:connect route. Jesus, I shudder just thinking about it. I'll take Stockholm Syndrome rape survivor over that monstrosity any day of the week.

My first thought upon reading the secret was "CRAB PEOPLE CRAB PEOPLE". I mean, they probably taste like crab and talk like people anyway.

My sympathies, OP. At least you COULD imagine someone is getting it on in the background, if you have played the games.
