Re: Post a snippet from a fic that has a really good description of a character

This entire vignette fic is perfect Clark Kent/Superman, but I'll post just the first bit of it for convenience:

Bruce doesn't get it, which is actually funny, given his relationship with Gotham. He can understand Clark Kent's love for the farm, his family, Smallville. The people he interviews and the places he's been. He doesn't quite understand or accept the way Clark feels about all of it.

The first time Clark had looked at the world from above, he almost thought he was dying. The lack of oxygen or the exertion or something, but it felt like his heart was going to explode out of his chest, and he didn't care, it didn't matter as long as he could look down on it. The layers that made up the sky, the ground, the people, the seas. Flocks of birds and swarms of fish and the lights of the cities like gaudy constellations and he'd fallen in love.

Those two paragraphs...don't go together, right? Because they make very little sense as a unit. And the second and third sentences of the first graph would seem to contradict each other something fierce.

Perhaps you can click on the link below and read the whole thing to answer your question? The whole story is about five paragraphs long.

Also, I'm not sure how those sentences contradict each other, since the third sentence just adds some more information to the second.

Excuse me. I meant second and fourth:

He can understand Clark Kent's love for the farm, his family, Smallville. ... He doesn't quite understand or accept the way Clark feels about all of it.

Oh sorry, I see what you mean. Yeah, you have to read the rest of the fic for that to make sense -- "all of it" refers to literally ALL of it, down to the atoms and molecules and all the tiny little details of various little things from the other side of the world that his super-senses pick up. (the fact that Superman can hear things even though sound doesn't travel in space is canon btw XD comics are brain-breaking sometimes).
