I never really got that either, at least with the Disney version. Belle gives him shit for being an asshole and then she up and leaves when he goes batshit on her entering the West Wing. It's not until she calls him out on his temper and he slowly begins to change that she starts being nice to him. I mean, it's still a bit of a skeevy relationship beginning but it's not the worst.
