Pretty much this. Maybe you have to be 30+ to really get it, but Robin Williams played so many characters that (I know it sounds cheesy) had a strong impact on my life and thinking. Not to mention he was just entertaining as hell, and I also had no idea whatsoever that he suffered from depression. Maybe it shouldn't have been so shocking, but it really was.
