Random things

(Anonymous) 2014-08-27 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
So I'm in this stare down with a rabbit in the backyard (at least I don't think he sees me but it feels like it). And I realize all I ever see is their big wide eyes. And I wonder do rabbits have eyelids? A google search says yes, duh of course they eyelids. In fact they have three! What random thing have you learned recently?

I just imagined you typing this while still looking at the rabbit. Maybe on a cellphone or something while sitting in your yard.

It's not really a TIL thing, but I'm sorting papers from when I was in middle/high school and I seriously have no memory of doing like close to half of this work. O___o Also: papers from my zoo taxonomy class. Daaaaang.

But I'm also really enjoying tossing all the old algebra/trig homework straight into that recycle bin. Eeesh.

Well I just learned that rabbits have three eyelids!

I also learned that you can cook goat by gutting it and then filling the body cavity with hot embers and burying it for a few hours.

Hello Kitty isn't a cat. According to Sanrio, themselves, she is actually a little girl from England whose name is Kitty White.

And if you think about it, "Kitty" isn't that strange of a name. It's the shortened nickname form of Katherine. So, Hello Kitty's real name is Katherine White. Though Hello Katherine White doesn't have the same ring as Hello Kitty.

It doesn't say she's a human girl, though. Just a Spongebob is a boy. Which makes sense. She's a cartoon character.

Yeeeah, I'd bet the whole thing is a mistranslation of some kind and what they meant is that she's not a normal cat who acts like a cat. She's a case of this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FurryConfusion

I'm confused, if Hello Kitty is not a cat, why is she... a cat?

Ringworm isn't actually a worm, it's a fungus.
