Does sounding actually feel good for men? Because I read a fic about it that was really hot and it is now a bit of a kink for me. But I'm nervous about trying it in real life because it looks painful.

I'm a girl so I can't speak for male experiences, but from what I hear it's no more painful than inserting a catheter when done properly. If using smaller instruments, it supposedly feels more "odd" than painful, but its all largely going to depend on amount of lube, size of the sound, how careful you are (or whomever is inserting it for you) and if you are using the proper materials (buy sounds made for specifically for the kink, don't use random objects as that can set up infection and might not be smooth enough for comfort)
