Cliches tend to be so prevalent for a reason. That's a cliche I particularly enjoy, too, and CI did it really well.

+1 I only dislike awesome cliches like that one when they're done badly or lazily.

I don't even give a fuck. My love for that kind of thing is unabashed and total.

ngl, I had ALL THE FEELS for Goren in that episode. Something about a big, intellectually intimidating guy breaking down like that melts my heart. Aaaaand maybe my panties.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-28 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you imagine having to be saved by Goren, though? That sounds awful.

I love that episode unabashedly for exactly the reasons you listed OP. Kidnapped hero? Check. Frantic partner? Check. Badass self-rescue? Check and check! And I appreciate that the trauma was something Eames continued to deal with - you know, with actual therapy rather than stoicism.

I love this episode. Separating Goren and Eames really illustrated how amazing they are together.

I could've written this secret about X-Files or Fringe.

So....what episode is this? I must watch it.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's Season 6, episode 1, "Blind Spot".

Thanks! This hits all my buttons, too!

I love the kidnapped partner cliche and I'm not at all sorry about it. It's great.

Teammate in peril is my jam, yo. Stokes buried alive? Reid kidnapped? Bones AND Hodges buried in a car while Boothe sexily races through the desert to get to them?

I love them all. I don't watch Criminal Intent, but I would watch this episode.
