Tessering is the verb for travelling through a "tesseract (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesseract)" or, as the book describes it, "a wrinkle in time." Supposedly, when you tesser, you're travelling in the 5th dimension.

Fourth dimension, actually. *shoves glasses up on nose* A tesseract is a hypercube.

As they explain it in the book:

The first dimension is a line.

To get the second dimension, you square the line, and you get a square.

When you square the square (cube the line), you have the third dimension, a cube.

When you square the cube - in theory - you have a hypercube, or a tesseract. It's a scientific form of "teleportation" only teleportation is probably the worst description you could actually give for the thing itself.
