O.o I mean, I know some people don't like Louise (I think she's hilarious personally but I really want her and Saji to have a POINT soon >_>)... but most of the people I know like Sumeragi/Soma/Felt, and I haven't seen anybody bashing Marina... I guess I'm looking in the wrong place? XD;

(For what it's worth, I still think Marina will end up Setsuna's half-sister or something so eh. The director said that romance isn't gonna be too big in this show in an interview; we'll see.)

Soran/Setsuna is Kurdish. Marina's last name, "Ismail," is Arabic judging by its pronounciation. It's an interesting idea, but Marina is the princess of an Arabic country, and Setsuna is Kurdish.

Eh, given that the creators have said romance isn't going to be too important to th story and the age gap, I don't see something between the two (of course, this is hardly from a "she gets in the way of buttsex kill her with fiiiiiiiiiire" viewpoint, I assure you XD; )

I just question whether it'll be a romantic relationship, and that makes me think that they'll be important in some other way.

I, too, would like to see wtf the point of Saji and Louise is. Unless they're currently just there to be like...THIS IS HOW THE PEOPLE FEEL AND HE LIVES NEXT TO A MEISTER WOO.

Yeah, I personally think that so far, Louise/Saji/Kinue are supposed to be foils to ZOMG SOLDIERS and... providing a normal civilian perspective? Although I expect that Kinue, at least, is going to give us some Important Revelations regarding Aeolia or wtfever his name is.

Eh, I don't know. I've been lurking around the fandom ever since ep 1 and I haven't seen this hate which the OP speaks of either. >___> Personally, I love Sumeragi to bits and I really like Soma and Felt. I haven't formed any opinion on Marina, but that's just because we don't know much about her yet, aside from the fact that she only seems to want what's best for her apparently agonizing country. That hardly makes her bash-able...

You haven't seen tons of Setsuna/Marina bashings just cuz she's old and apparently gets in the way of Setsuna/Graham/Exia/buttcockpitsexwhathaveyou? I wish I could say the same for myself then. I know there's no assurance yet that it'll be canon, my main gripe though is with the bashers' ridiculous and gender-biased reasons for hating it.

If I may ask, was this through personal journals? I know I haven't seen any bashing on my flist OR on any of the comms/general areas, so. :/ Other than the quite strident WTF'ing at her... meeting with Setsuna. :|b
