And I'm pretty sure you can be anon on there, so if you've got all these problems with Poly, it would be a lot more constructive if you took it there, and didn't bring it to FS. You'll get wank here; you'll probably get a solution there.

Truth be told, I can feel your pain on the new apps process. ... I don't like it either. But RE: the mods not doing anything about OOC issues?

Complete bullshit. There's a character complaints thread in addition to the problems thread. Mods aren't just going to target people they may think are OOC. That would make them elitist, don't you think? Or more so, since you already think they are. Plus, they don't know every fandom of every character that's in the game. That's why they ask the players to bring OOC characters to their attention. So uh- there goes your calling them "know-it-alls".

So really. If you've got that big an issue with Poly? Do something about it, instead of whining here.

I think an issue with the Character Complaint thread is that players/people aren't sure what's done about the OOCness. I know in some other RPs they take the characters away if they get too many complaints, but Poly's policy is sort of vague.

I was under the impression that once they got a certain number of complaints, they were passed on to the player, and if said player didn't take said complaints into consideration and make changes and kept getting complaints then... I think they take them away?

Idk, I do suppose they could be clearer about what happens when people complain, but- The fact is, the thread is there for people to do the complaining, so that the mods can do something about it.

Of course, people can always IM a mod for more info so- yeah I'mma stop tl;dr'ing now D:

I'm just curious as to how many complaints are needed. If the fandom and/or group of characters is small, and one is wildly OOC, then I'm not sure what's done about that.

I know, and it really should be used. I've already filed a complaint about a character and am pondering one or two more, but I'm simply wondering how long/how much action is taken, you know?

Uhhh, no idea. D: That's a good question though. I... would want to think it's more than one, because one could just be... idk, a grudge against someone or someone who think a char should be played a certain way or something, but multiple complaints would show the mods that the char could definitely be OOC.

Pondering a couple of complaints myself, but- Lol, laziness 8D Just... gotta get myself over there. I think if players knew more about what the mods did once they get complaints, they might be more inclined to use the thread but- DUNNO. :/

After a number of complaints have gathered [said number is relative to the size and popularity of the fandom / crew / exposure, and of our personal deliberation ] , we will compile them and send the player of the allegedly OOC character an e-mail with the following information: number of complaints, nature of complaints and suggestions. At no times will the player who you have deemed to be portraying his / her character badly have access to your identity.

This means depending on the fandom, it's going to be minimum 3 complaints.

As someone who has made use of the complaint thread the main issue with it is the number of complaints it takes to get the player's attention. And even if they don't adjust their characterization it takes another good 6 complaints to get the character taken away.

It's also impossible for a player to know how/if their input has any effect. It does get to the point where it can be frustrating. Even if a complaint thread exists not everyone feels comfortable using it so even if a there's a character that is generally considered OOC not a lot of people will use the complaint thread because they're either intimidated or think it's useless.
