Hrrm.

I suppose this is when I say "if you are not happy here, find a new place to roam", loved seeing you thanks for the fun times, buh-bye?

Or, you know, you could... stick around where you're obviously unhappy?

As a mod, I suppose I shan't even touch some of those points. No need to be overly rude. Though apparently, we're being asked to be... more powerful, to step up and smack people for ooc when we may not even know the fandom, (because obviously, we know all fandoms, and it's fair to only patrol oocness ourselves in the fandoms we know) and to drop everything for your app, (because it's not finals week and it's totally not cool to expect mods to have lives outside the comm and ask nicely for you to allow two weeks at most for us to look over 50+ apps.)

And this is another "elitist" mod opening herself up for questions or complaints. AIM is steelandpride, I can't say I've ever turned down one of those.

Woe. Woe. D: D: D: FINALS WOE OH MY GOD 50++ APPS HOW WILL I EVER COPE WOE. D:

But you can sit around defending Poly. I lol'd.

This comment reeks of arrogance. If you're trying to prove you're not "elitist," as you put it, then tone down the condescending tone, eh?

[identity profile] ruxi.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Our atttitudes are, perhaps, in need of dire change. You're very right to ask that.

Please, if you have the time, voice your complaints here (http://community.livejournal.com/polychromatic/180110.html). Thank you.

(Anonymous) 2007-12-10 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You're probably the only mod over there I like :/

My apologies. I suppose the whole "real life" may take preference over roleplay excuse would be received without much aplomb right now? But, as redundant as it sounds, yes, mods do have school, or jobs, and sometimes it does get difficult to get all of the apps judged in a single week, hence we allow up to two weeks. I understand as a player that it can seem like a long wait, but, honestly, is it that much of a deal, those few extra days of possibility?

If people don't like Polychromatic, they have every right not to, and, hell, you have every right to call me an elitist, too, because I'll honestly tell you my tone right now is irked.

But I will also tell you, with every degree of apparent arrogance, that I have never turned down a complaint, nor refused to look at a problem a player has, nor turned a blind eye when a player came to me because they needed help with something.

So, if that's elitist as a mod, well.

As someone else pointed out early, the point is NOT the fact that you have lives, you have lives, you can't be on the computer 24/7, you have lives, and you have lives, it is the fact that YOU are not doing your RESPONSIBILITY of FINDING ANOTHER PERSON to DO YOUR JOB. It's the same logic with work. If you can't come in for work, you find someone to do your shift. Get it?

Uh huh, and the person who made that secret, DID complain, DID point it out to you guys, but apparently got ignored and got no response.

Yes, it does. You're still as arrogant as ever and is too blinded by your pride to realize the logic I'm throwing at you.

As one of many mods, I can vouch only for my own experience with the complaints. I only see part of them, of course, since we have others who also deal with them, but from my part, I see no unaddressed complaints in our Problems Thread, hence, no unaddressed problems at this time.

If the person from the OP IM'd a mod, it wasn't me, so, once again, from personal experience I can't say I've dealt with this problem.

But, I can only say what I would have done had it been taken up with me, and since it wasn't, I must disappoint on this point as well.

I don't know if what you mean by "ignored" would be they received a response, but there was no action in response when the OP felt there should be one, but I can say I've never seen a written complaint not replied to in it's totality.

Apologies, but I can't do much else for you like this.

Just a suggestion, Rizu. Since you brought it up, for the fandoms you guys don't know, you could do some sort of app voting or something, for people in the fandom itself? I know some big RPs do that (though I can't remember them off the top of my head) but, perhaps it would be useful? Just a suggestion, you know? Like, nothing on a large large omg scrutinize this app way, but like... take player input, if you think the players know their characterization well and stuff? I ramble. XD;;;

42

[identity profile] stormcoming.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about rambling~

Mm, we can certainly see that's discussed. I've never played in a community that did that, but I can see the possibilities.

I'll bring it to attention.

P.S: [livejournal.com profile] campfuckudie does it :3 ♥ But I only know because I've had friends apply there and lulz about the percentage of people that rejected them, haha.

Re: 42

[livejournal.com profile] campfuckuvote is their voting community. They have apps open every month or every couple of months, announce it and then people can app in the span of 24 hours.

Not saying you should do the same, but maybe you could get ideas from their system.

42

[identity profile] stormcoming.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the clarification.

I'll be sure to go check that out, and see how they do things over there.

Just warning you--CFUD's system is very hard to replicate.

42

[identity profile] stormcoming.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, thanks for that.

We'll be looking at our application process and re-evaluating how we do things, so, either way, hopefully people will like it more once we finish.

Re: 42

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Another anon, but it gets through 40-60 apps in between three to five days with four mods (and normally there are only three posting apps). Having apped and played at both games, I think Poly could benefit a lot from a voting system (though you have to consider that one of CFUD's voting system's strengths is its anonymity, and whether or not Poly is ready to take that plunge).

42

[identity profile] stormcoming.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for that input.

Poly's application system will be going through a change soon, hopefully for the better, and whether we adopt the voting system or not, we hope the players will be more satisfied in the end.

Thanks. ♥
