Oh, honestly. The mods aren't attached to their computers 24/7. There are going to be times when they're too busy! Every game goes through this! People have lives!

You had to wait for your application to be approved/denied? Oh, you poor thing. You know, I think two weeks is actually pretty reasonable for a game that big.

(Anonymous) 2007-12-10 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you really that riled up over a role-playing game that you're not even a part of anymore?

Stop and listen to yourself. You want mods to make their first priority a game? It isn't just about lives, it's about priority. That's how it goes in the world of role-playing, so sorry. Game SHOULD come second to EVERYTHING ELSE.

[identity profile] ashira.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, dearest anonymous. ♥

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
And so we are. Keep it up. (:

[identity profile] ashira.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, my god... Except is kinda IS the point. Somehow I don't think finding other people to take on their job while they're off engaging in that thing called real-life, which I presume is a foreign concept to you people making such a huge fuss with your "I want it NOW NOW NOW", is as easy as you might think it is.

[identity profile] zombifiers.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Except going through applications for characters you've never seen before takes a bit more time, effort, and thought process than writing out the html to post a bunch of pictures up.

You're an asshole.

[identity profile] zombifiers.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Because RP on LJ = Actual job to make money and sustain life

srs business

It's not like things don't get DONE in Poly. But that's the world we live in, I suppose. If things don't happen at breakneck speed because we have to have everything RIGHT NOW OMG, it's the end of the world.

[identity profile] zombifiers.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
To do that which you are obligated to do. ♥ which is being done at Poly, BUT APPARENTLY JUST NOT FAST ENOUGH LOL

Now, [livejournal.com profile] technophile. WHAT IS PERSONAL PRIORITY?

(no subject)

How hard is it to understand that the point is not how fast things are going but how irresponsible the mods are for not finding someone to do their job?

That said, HOW HARD IS IT to find someone else to do your job? VERY HARD APPARENTLY with the way you guys keep MISSING THE POINT.

Hi, I'm the anon he just linked.

Uhh, we're talking about RESPONSIBILITY here. Not money. Responsibility doesn't need to involve an actual job that makes money and sustains life, because it's supposed to be common sense and engraved in our heads.

[identity profile] zombifiers.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi anon. I don't care. real life > RP. As long as things get done, who cares? omg so it took a little bit longer than anticipated. So what? So. What. That's life.

[identity profile] gaulish.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
IAWTC.

[personal profile] convault 2007-12-10 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
because no one's depending on the mod, the one who's supposed to be responsible, to be responsible?

because they have REAL LIVES WOES D: and don't want to hand off responsibility to someone else when they can't handle it themselves? because becoming a mod of an rp isn't a commitment, duh. games don't HAVE TO overshadow real life but if you think of a game as just a game and the people in it as robots who'll sit around and NOT GET PISSED when the ones in charge are supposed to be running stuff and they aren't. doing. it?

oh they can wait around for as long as i need to get my shit together vs. i can't handle this so someone else needs to do it until i can get my shit together

okay!

[identity profile] ashira.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But the thing IS.. you can't JUST hand over a RP community to a bunch of other people for a week or two. It's an RP. ANYTHING could happen. Yes, you could choose someone you think is completely trustworthy, but I've seen games crash and burn completely because of very similar moves.

It's generally not a good move.

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
No. It is not. *been there, lost a game because of that*

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Simply put, it's not that simple in running anything, from an RP, a game, hell, even a group in MOST REAL LIFE SITUATIONS LIKE A JOB OR A SCHOOL PROJECT. You can't expect 6 people with drastically different schedules and lifestyles, as well as problems, upbringings, understandings, and opinions to be able to agree to each and everything on spot.

Time zones, work loads, personal conflicts, and perhaps even a chance to have fun ON THEIR OWN TIME. The Mods are not PAID to run an RPG, they do it out of their own choice, and they have to, not only keep up and uphold their own Rules and serve as a role model for other players. It is not a Job where they are expected to meet certain quotas and only that, it is not a task given to them by someone, it is a full time, stress ridden hell that they must fit into their already cramed schedules. You can bitch and moan about getting it all in, but you have to come to terms with the fact that they are human. And Fuck, fate and time love throwing curve balls.

Yes, I understand, there are a few mods who do not seem to pull their weight, but this causes the others to strain and try to fill in that gap. It's not quite as fair.

The Mods for apps have a 2 mod approval policy, and often there is only ONE mod who knows the series well enough to make a call, especially with those animes or series that are obscure. If you say "then have that ONE mod do those apps" you run into yet another problem. Then the character is subject to their point of view, and the RP group becomes ridged and stale, and quite frankly BORING. At least with two, there could be two different views agreeing on that one fandom.

Even if you hand off the job to another mod, then you'll just run into the same problem. And then there is the 'getting used to period' and the other jobs, the taken character cleanup, character disputes, and 'hinting' and lazy asses to get back and active. You can complain and bitch all you like, but do you actually take the time to try and send them an email instead of some childish 'fandomsecret' bitchfest?

Also, consider that quite a few apps go along like so" They arrive, they go wtf, and go nuts". Not as descriptive as a "who I am, what do I want, and do I understand the goals of this character". You the player have a responsibility to the mod to provide as much info in one sitting, and they have to put it to their judgment if they think it is usable and enjoyable for the game, just like at a job, you are to provide to the maximum of your abilities and your boss will direct you to what you need to improve on. IT IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO PLAY BLAME GAME. Except the mods don't get paychecks.

Whine, bitch, complain complain complain, if that is all you are going to do, then take the driver's seat and see how well you do. It's like when you're a kid, you bitch and complain that your parents have let you do anything, and then when you grow up, OMG, SO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY. They were players who decided I wanted to help run this and fill a gap. When they are obviously failing, shouldn't it be the PLAYERS who then step up to plate, take SOME time out of THEIR schedules and try and Help? That's what I think a community is.

Not everything is fun and games, and if you think it should, go back to mommy and daddy for more childish pampering.
