That would be really cool. Ron was alright, but he got so very *tiresome*. Luna and Draco could have added some much-needed, non-Gryfendor perspective, plus we could have had Draco the reluctant convert who betrays then helps and/or undercover spy telling them secrets from home visits.

It would have been fun!

Every second more we spend in the presence of Draco would have been like an eternity of torture

*snerk*

Considering how tedious Ron got, I would have to disagree.

I like this idea. It would have been good character development for Draco. And you know there'd be drama when the Trio had trouble believing he wanted to be reformed.

Exactly! I did and do love the HP books and world, but Ms Rowling wrote some fairly rigid black/white characters that could have used a bit more grey.

This exactly! He had so much potential as a character--the growth would have been amazing to witness, because damn, he could have been good, he could have grown a spine, change perspectives all while remaining himself...not everyone is born with a spine of steel where the question of always making the "morally correct" choice is a given. It would have been interesting to see that happen.

[Draco's inability to kill Dumbledore made me feel for him bc don't we all know that "I don't have a choice" circumstance? in our own way?]

Luna would have been awesome too. Hell, even Neville, as he become Hero towards the end. It would have been nice to get a closer view of how that transformation occurred.

I will be forever mad that we didn't get to see Neville's seventh year. He ended up being so cool.

Watching Draco wrestle with looking at his life and looking at his choices would have been really interesting. We got a teaser of that, but the real thing would have been much juicier and satisfying.

I, for one, am with you. I wouldn't have minded keeping Ron around, but when the series started off I felt like Rowling was planning a character development/redemption arc that got precipitously dropped halfway through, and it would've been exactly the sort of thing I like if she'd stuck with it. And you're so right about the need for some non-Gryffindor perspective. For all the talk of "uniting the Houses," we kind of had Team Good Guys, Team Bad Guys, and the Background Brigade.

I'm still so pissed about how there were no Slytherins at the final battle. Really? None of them?

I think Slughorn was the only one on Harry's side, iirc?

I really would've liked to have that whole House unity thing represented in the main character group. I thought that was what she was building to, but nope, Gryffindors all the way. Gryffindors and Luna.

It always seemed weird that everybody was like "ZOMG HOUSE UNITY" through the whole series but it never happened among the main characters. Slytherins were still dirty traitors and racists (ALL OF THEM), Hufflepuffs were just THERE, Ravenclaws were just THERE, and the Gryffindors were the heroes.

Yup. It bummed me out, too. I like AU fics where either Harry is in a different house, or Draco is part of the group, or *something*, so we actually get more house unity.
