They might hate him for the continual whining he does, a lot of which relates to him and his family being poor. So classism maybe?

I find that REALLY hard to believe though because people seemed to ADORE Fred and George.

You mean the ones who got rich off their shop and never seemed to complain about money even before that?

Even before that, though, they were pretty much universally beloved. Not to mention Bill and Charlie, who seemed well liked. Ginny was pretty hated too even though she never brought up money.

If anything, I think the Ron hate had a lot more to do with shipping seeing as how Ginny also took a huge hit.

True. Did they ever really talk about their family's status or anything? I know Percy did, but he also essentially betrayed his family for Fudge's regime.

Fred and George never make the kind of noise about being poor that Ron does, though, do they?

Continual whining? Ron rarely complains about his situation, from pride if nothing else.
