Don't get the hate for this secret. I thought DH would have had more students joining the fight outside Hogwarts at a grassroots level. Having Luna and Draco in the group (although with Ron, because Ron is great) would have been brought a more interesting tension to the story than Oh Yay Golden Trio Being Awesome Again.

I'm with you. I don't get it. I've never seen quite this much level of 'love Ron or be branded a moron/omg you suck' before.

Yeah, same. I think both Draco and Luna could have brought interesting perspectives, and I guess in a way I'm one of those who still kind of wistfully sees Who Draco Could Have Been rather than who he actually turned out to be. Especially in book 7, it would have been nice to 'expand' the Trio a bit.
I wouldn't ditch Ron, for sure, but I, too, was surprised at how much vitriol the secret got.

I'm one of those who still kind of wistfully sees Who Draco Could Have Been rather than who he actually turned out to be.

This is me right here, and it's nice seeing someone else who feels this way. There was so much interesting potential there that just got dropped cold.

exactly! And I'm not talking in a Draco-in-leather-pants kind of way. I think that having someone from the pureblood side come clean over could have been very interesting, and given us a good perspective on the Wizarding World in general, or the sides of it that we don't really get to see. Also, you know, things about somebody being spoiled and selfish not meaning they're evil... (and I know we saw some of that, but I'd have liked to see more).
In a way I had kind of hoped that he would pull a partial Zuko, but alas.
