I published full nude photos of myself, with my real name and face, on a very popular website as part of a confrontational piece about body image issues. It was actually a big success.

Depends entirely on how you define that.

It might be great on that website, and more power to you. But someone, somewhere copied that photo and pasted it elsewhere out of context. I can almost guarantee it. Maybe that's okay, maybe it isn't.
