I agree. I'd rather have quality over quantity so I head towards those.

Also, the tiresome wank in those fandoms is (usually) much less.

My Shakespeare centric fandom could very well be the nicest place on the internet. We have never had wank or drama of any kind whatsoever, and when we disagree, we just discuss our different interpretations like reasonable adults. It's bizarre, and even after a year I'm still reeling from how awesome it is.
