Anyone else feel that Clara got a big upgrade in the last two episodes? It's like she finally crystallized from "impossible girl(s)" (how many different ones?) to mutual snark society, almost like the Doctor/Donna role. Maybe it's just that she works better next to the nicely tart Capaldi rather than the manic mouth Smith. (I love all the Doctors, but Coleman/Smith never clicked for me.)

I adored Coleman/Smith (they were cute tbh), but I'm starting to prefer Coleman/Capaldi's dynamic a lot more. They seem to have a much better chemistry and they work nicely together on the show.

that slap on the recent episode is still my favorite thing ever.

The snark was a major aspect of her character and interactions with the Doctor in s7 too, though. I think season 7 was just kind of a mess, and the Impossible Girl stuff overrode a lot of her character, so the writing's better and the character has more room to breath. But it's the same character.

She did. But I'm afraid she's going to take a major step back next week because it's a Gaitiss ep, and the last time Gaitiss wrote Clara (in The Crimson Horror), she seemed like she barely had a brain to her. The trailer for next week doesn't leave me brimming in confidence on that score either.

She seems like a more mature Clara. Not the "impossible girl" any more but the "confident woman." Her dynamic and chemistry works better with 12 than with 11.
