It's weird, I occasionally ship real people who are in bands/TV shows/movies together, but I couldn't give a toss whether or not they are friends IRL. It's all based on the interaction during filming (behind the scenes footage etc) or band lifetime and once the show/band has ended/movie promotions are over, I move on to the next ship. I have to say though, never once have I sincerely believed that there was anything romantic IRL between my shipping targets, and I honestly don't understand the people who are truly believe their secret lovers bullshit and get so upset when those people turn out not to be so close at all. I never thought RPF was creepy, until it started to become common to show it to the subjects of the fics.
