Just...don't actually harass the celebrities about it? Because then it goes into creepy territory.

I agree with you 100% about not harassing celebrities about shipping, but sometimes this still strikes me as a really odd response, especially when the OP hasn't indicated they're even thinking about doing it. It's kind of like saying, "I really enjoy road trips" and then someone telling you, "Well, that's fine but just don't drive drunk and murder a hitchhiker, okay? Because that would be wrong."

Like... the assumption feels a little intrusive, even if it's well meant. I can't help but think it'd be really annoying if someone assumed my actions, no matter how private, might lead to creepytown.

Yeah, fair enough. Sadly I just see it happen a lot in some things that end up on my dash. Glee *cough* supernatural *cough* so maybe my perception is screwed. Maybe it's the use of "I'm sorry" in the secret - but you do have a point, yes, one shouldn't assume all RPF shippers do this.

OP here. Don't worry, no offense taken. To be honest, there's one person in the fandom who keeps harassing Zach over instagram and seeing their behavior makes me want to curl up into a ball and die.

I mean, I ship it quietly in my corner, but I still creep myself out sometimes regardless. I can't even begin to understand the mentality of someone who goes and bothers a celebrity about it.

Well, I assume the OP thinks this is something bad (hence the anonymous secret). So, kallanda's comment is basically saying, "It is okay to do this, just don't go to this extreme. Because then it is not okay."

That still assumes the OP isn't aware that going to extremes is bad. Which is entirely possible, but it's still kind of ouchy that just because someone fantasizes about something in the privacy of their own daydreams means that you'll assume they'll act out physically in inappropriate ways.

Sometimes I eat nutella with a spoon, which I know is not healthy. But I'd take offense if people assumed I binge eat or that I didn't know unhealthy eating habits might lead to weight gain and type 2 diabetes and that they needed to warn me of this when all I'd said was that sometimes I eat a spoonful of nutella when I'm sad.

See, if someone told me that they like to eat nutella on a spoon, I'd be like, "Just don't eat the whole jar!" For me it is a way of showing that I am paying attention to you and responding to show you that. Also, I'd never say it seriously. It would always be jokingly.

I'd say it with this face. :D Not this face. :|

DA

IMO, that'd be fine because it'd be clear you were joking about the Nutella rather than expressing a serious fear that the person would eat themselves to an early grave. "Don't be a creeper" warnings aren't quite the same.
