By god, it makes me sound terrible, but I really like characters with anxiety and/or low self-esteem. I just relate to them too well.

This is probably why Mansfield Park is my favorite Austen book. The characters I relate to a lot aren't always my favorites but I do love Fanny for that reason.

It's not my favorite but poor Fanny gets criticized too often for being boring or too much of a pushover, but I really love her and that book. She's no Elizabeth Bennett, but that's kinda the point.

Yup. Honestly I get a little tired of the Elizabeth Bennetts in these stories. I feel like she's suffered a bit from all the imitators that act like she's what a woman in that sort of story should be like.
