I don't necessarily prefer the movies (though some of them are great), but sometimes it's just hard (and not cheap) to actually get to a live show.

I have seen most of the ones I mentioned live, though (except Singing in the Rain).

Sometimes it's interesting, though, as live versions can be quite different from the movie (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, for example, which is the last one I saw live).

And for older stuff, it's just not on that much - or if it is, on the other end of the world. I'd love to see Anything Goes, but yeah good luck with that.
