The only show I've regularly watched him in is Master Chef, and although his critiques can be harsh they are always warranted, and when the food is good he is more than glad to say so. When a contestant that he had high expectations for gets kicked off, he seems genuinely upset about it. In comparison to Joe Bastianich (what a dick), he's really quite easy-going and decent.

I get the feeling that his Hell's Kitchen persona is the one he plays up for ratings and shock value, and the guy he is on Master Chef is more the real Gordon.
