FWIW, Glee was actually a pretty decent show at first. I'm honestly not sure why it's still on. Well, actually I am, it's basically Fox's baby. It was never about misfits conforming, it was about trying to make American Idol people and theater people and Fox execs happy.

But once, that was less obvious, and at that time the show was pretty good.

... Misfits not conforming. You know what I mean. Grumble. :P

Hey, I like Glee. I haven't seen the last season yet but I probably will. I was really into it in the first season, even went to see the live show. And I'm a hella lot older than most the target audience.

I acknowledge it has some massive issues, but the songs make me happy. Whatever.

I'm still watching, and I have no idea why. Sue is pretty much the only character I like anymore. Everyone else is so self-righteous and annoying. But Jane Lynch is still awesome and I can't seem to quit.

I think I only watched the first two seasons and I only liked S1. It was a great idea that went downhill fast, mostly because of crappy writing, inconsistent characterization and Ryan Murphy having his head up his ass.

Same. I could see the turn in season 2 and ditched it long before many of my friends did.

I think they legitimately did not expect it to go past the first 13 episodes so they really did not know WTF to do with it after that.

And Ryan Murphy always has interesting ideas that get weirder as he goes, I really don't think he was mean to be in charge of a network television show, he enjoys being offensive way too much.

I also only watched 1 and 2. It did have some great ideas and jokes at first but its flaws became too glaring to me to keep watching. I did keep watching for a while for the music since they almost always did good or even great covers while I watched, some of which I actually like better than the original or just as much. The Glee version of "Born This Way" is awesome to me because its a group of people singing. It makes it sound more like an anthem to me and I like that.
Why does Ryan Murphy has his head up his ass?

Same. I really enjoyed the first season, though it went downhill fast after that. I don't think I've seen an ep of the third season or beyond.

I'm not ashamed of my Glee 'phase'. I watched the first three seasons and despite the problems, it could be pretty fun and some of the music was to my liking. (Especially Naya Rivera and Amber Riley's stuff.)

Haven't kept up, but I know some folks are still watching for specific pairings. That's as good a reason as any, imo.

*shrugs* If you feel like watching, you should.

I enjoyed the first season but it lost me in the second, and while I think it went south pretty fast I don't consider the hours I spent watching it to be wasted time.

this was kinda hard to read

(Anonymous) 2014-09-04 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
lol enjoy what you enjoy, why bother worrying about other shit? anyway season 4 is the best, so it would be a shame to miss out on that!

I liked the first couple of seasons. It was funny when it didn't piss you off with it's inconsistent characterization and odd gender & race stereotypes and how they acted like those stereotypes were then super empowering. I thought Rachel Berry was pretty funny and Santana was crazy gorgeous and a great singer and Sue was awful but one of the best parts of the show.

lmao fucking Glee. I enjoyed the first two seasons, but I was literally bullied out of the fandom because I didn't ship Klaine or Kurt/Sam.

I went back and tried to watch through it sans fandom interaction whatsoever after I felt a little less burnt to a crisp over it, and I still very much enjoyed the first two seasons, but I didn't even make it through the third. The quality really went dramatically downhill.

I'd probably watch this show if there was no singing involved.

Like others said, the first season was good, or entertaining at least. But it went downhill fast. No shame, OP. I think everyone had their Glee phase. Some still have it.
