(Anonymous) 2014-09-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)Nobody I know IRL is interested in my work, including family, so I've never had anybody to look over samples of my writing and give me constructive criticism. I've felt discouraged from writing lately because I think it's taken a nosedive, so I'm wondering how you guys find people interested in giving you concrit, and maybe if any of you might want to do that for me you could hit me up.
For the record, I write original stories, so it's nothing fandom-specific (though I did start a Portal fic, which I gave up on). I guess my impression is that it's harder to find people willing to critique original works, but maybe I'm wrong. I guess I'd call it fantasy/sci-fi but it's hard to pin down a genre since I write about so many different settings and characters. Maybe adventure is a better description. If that interests anybody, I might send you a message. I vaguely recall trying this once before and the person who expressed interest never responded after I sent them my samples.
Or maybe there's a forum for this kind of thing? I'm not well-versed in writing circles, I just keep to myself.

As for where else to look, another fs-er started a writing comm here on Dreamwidth earlier this year called Write Away.
