... These people do realize she was a Zionist, right? I mean, no, that doesn't make the problems with Zionism go away, but such comments are not wildly OOC or unexplainable, or a reason to celebrate the fact that the woman is dead.

I believe both sides are wrong, but vilifying/glorifying one side more than the other only contributes to the hatred and unrest. They're blowing each other up over differences of religion. There really is no right side to this, any way you slice it.

There really, really, isn't. Both sides are wrong, and anyone who takes either side is just perpetuating the violence and the problems. (Full disclosure: I am a pacifist, so that's where I'm coming from on this.)

I'm not entirely a pacifist, but close. And I absolutely believe that the fighting there is mostly wrong. But I don't think you can put the actions of both on the same level because one involves land-stealing, a near complete denial of equal rights, and a system that is pretty comparable to the one in South Africa under apartheid while the other involves wrong actions taken by the other side to try to get their rights. Which is the wrong way to go about it completely, but I'd still argue that they aren't the same thing.

Last I checked being a pacificist didn't mean this milquetoast bullshit.

One side is mostly refugees, the other side has a modern military it's using to cause a lot of collateral damage. Saying "Hey Israel is much shittier than these other people" isn't saying "Gee guys war is awesome."

Pacifist!anon here: I acknowledged somewhere in this thread there are absolutely problems with Zionism. Yes, there's a huge power imbalance, yes there are illegal settlements (I support the boycott of illegal settlement goods, for instance), but 99% of the rhetoric surrounding Israel & Palestine invariably comes down to EITHER "land-stealing genocidal maniacs" OR "evil Muslim terrorists" with NO sensible middle ground. Because there literally cannot be a sensible middle ground, but that's another discussion.

The mostly refugee side became mostly refugee by starting a war. The modern military side became a modern military by defending against said war. Just because one side is currently more disadvantaged than the other doesn't make it less shitty.

...being a pacifist doesn't mean you should refuse to look at situations and determine who is at fault. Also if by "pacifist" you mean "if you raise a finger against ANYONE for ANY REASON, you are wrong", that's rather misguided and imo it inhibits justice.
