"this woman is beautiful" =/= fetishizing

the behavior that would get you 'pelted' would be: "i've never been with someone as dark as her; she looks like she'd be fun. i love exotic girls. i've always wanted to try a darker-skinned woman." and so on and so forth.

there is a difference. and most SJWs are aware of said difference. so unless you've run into some intensely-and-painfully dogmatic SJWs (that most normal SJWs don't want to associate with to begin with) and/or trolls who pretend to be SJWs (which seem to be extremely prevalent in the hopes of making all SJWs look bad), you're pretty much in the clear. most of them know the difference between finding someone attractive and fetishizing them and would probably just agree with you and say, "yep, she's gorgeous!" and that would be the end of it.

Finding a woman of color attractive is different than finding a woman attractive because of her skin color. Yellow fever, for example, would be fetishizing. Finding, say, Gong Li pretty isn't. In this case, OP sounds like s/he likes her acting and her looks, which isn't the same as liking her skin color.
