I feel you. I like the fluffy 'imagine your OTP' headcanon junk, but at the same time it reminds me of how fucking generic and easy it is to write 'romance'. Lately the ones I've seen show how much of a 'formula' shipping comes with: 'Char 1 is really outgoing and drags char 2 around!' or something. The fact I could think of a few ships off the top of my head that fall into this dynamic is kind of sad.

It just reminds me how much I prefer a series to have romance on the side, not as the focus. I wouldn't be able to stomach it otherwise.
