I think any fandom can come across as insane if you wander into the wrong parts of it.

Honestly, this is a little annoying. Homestuck isn't any more crazy or horrible than any other big fandom. And, like any big fandom, it has many, many parts in many different places.

Yeah I think this is the case with almost any (current) fandom that has more than a couple of fans. It really sucks and takes the fun out of fandom participation. It's easy to say 'don't follow people who post this' but seriously just being aware of how much people judge you for liking something sucks big time and bothers me, so no I can't just ignore annoying fans if they're such a huge and loud crowd.

It's really difficult to enjoy something when all you hear is "people who enjoy this and this are really shallow/miss the point of canon/sheep etc." I know I've had a very hard time learning to enjoy my thing and ignore all the people who critizise me for liking what I like. I almost left my fandom because of that, and I can't blame OP for not wanting to deal with it.
