I dunno. For a group of people allegedly as fascinated with sex as fandom is, there is an awful lot of 'boys have cooties make them stay out of my nice clean sandbox' mentality floating around. (And probably visa versa although personally I haven't noticed the boys being quite so militant about it whereas I've been flamed by female posters for questioning their less than welcoming atmosphere.)

BUT when you are writing a DETAILED fic about the sex that is happening, you need to be a bit more knowledgeable about sex (of the same and opposite gender) than the person watching porn.

Yup, that's a thing that happens. In fic, anyway. Dicks somehow manage to slam through the cervix, climb up the birth canal, and pummel unsuspecting ovaries.
