Sometimes it's hard being a fan of yaoi, het and gen. You just tend to feel like the kid with parents in couple counseling. I HAD THAT, FANDOM, IT WAS CALLED JUNIOR HIGH. STOP IT.

Yes, but we just call it "study week." No one actually studies, however! It's technically "finals' week" now and here I am BSing around on fandomsecrets. Jooooy.

I'll read just about anything, so I can't consider myself a "___ fan" in any real sense. So this kind of thing truly baffles me.

I've gotten to the point where I'll only read certain pairings if a) they're written by very specific authors or b) someone I know is sane recommends the fic to me. There is so much bad Axel/Roxas out there that it's actually quite frightening.

Studying is for people who don't have hobbies. Although, if F!S counts as one of my hobbies, I think I have a problem. No surprise.

I guess I'm just really used to getting it up for something utterly obscure (uh, my Batman/The Flash slash phase comes to mind) every now and then and having just a hell of a time finding anything for it, let alone good fic, that I find it hard to sympathize with the OP.

Also, yeah, the overwhelming amount of shit in the Axel/Roxas fanbase (no! I didn't mean that, writers, keep... doing what you do).

Granted, I can understand the resentment for a popular pairing when it's ALL THERE IS, but going batshit over it ain't helping. XD

Personally, I like the Axel & Roxas relationship in any and all capacities, but people just can't seem to get it right most of the time. :|

I'll be honest: popular pairing is popular. It's also shit 89% of the time (I'm optimistic). But guys, I'm willing to share -- I'll read and even write your pairing given the chance! Stop harping on us so much, it's not conducive to a nice fandom environment.

XD;;; Oh, I'm not. Lord knows I've SEEN the hate against the AkuRoku portion of fandom and I think it's just way overblown. Yeesh. ;;;

Oh, man. XDD Yeah, the popular pairings (to refer back to our other discussion, KakaIru and NaruSasuNaru are insanely popular, but 98% of it is, sadly, pure crap) are difficult to find really good fic for because of the amount of badfic you have to wade through first. :// Moar reclists are needed.

To be honest, the Axel & Roxas relationship intrigues me precisely because they're so hard to get right. I rambled/analyzed the relationship a LOT a while back and while I'm still not sure it's my type of pairing, the idea of these two together in any wayshapeform is FASCINATING.

Also, speaking as a fan of ridiculously obscure pairings like Marluxia/Zexion as well as popular stuff like Axel/Demyx... well, KH fandom just in general disappoints more often than it rewards, sadly.

The upside of Naruto fandom is that people are more willing to compile rec list -- granted, they're usually rec lists of KakaIru (which I've been told has the potential to be good, I just never cared enough to check) and NSN (all of which I've decimated in my... uh, earlier days >_>). Sometimes I wish there were rec lists for KH fics, but I don't know if I trust the general taste level enough.

Axel/Demyx does nothing for me (Xigbar/Demyx and Demyx/Namine, on the other hand...) but I can totally get behind Marluxia/Zexion. The aesthetics alone ♥ Sadly, while I'd like to say that I've seen it done, the truth is that I probably haven't.

Hmm. I've met plenty of good authors in KH fandom, but... so hard to find goodfic for my OTPs. DD: I love gen as much as the next person, but my shipping!fan needs a fix too. ;__; SIGH.

Haha, I ship anything and everything, really. Xigbar/Demyx and Xigbar/Zexion and Axel/Zexion and Axel/Marluxia and Marluxia/Demyx and... XDD I blame at least half of those on RPG ftw. But yeah, Marluxia/Zexion is my pet crack!pairing (aesthetics indeed lol); the only time I've even SEEN it done (without my requesting it, actually), was in _sexorcist_'s AU Axel/Demyx fic (http://community.livejournal.com/khyaoi/546298.html), as a hinty side-pairing, and I adored it because it was relatively IC. She also did an actual Marluxia/Zexion sidestory spinoff here (http://community.livejournal.com/khyaoi/590422.html), although I'm not entirely sure I agree with all of it, it is AU, and M/Z, and I CAN'T FIND THOSE TO SAVE MY LIFE. ;o;
