3: Lesbians (bottom left) count as 'teh gay' too, last I checked.

16: Yum, Quistis.

27: I sort of agree with this. I mean, I like certain slash/femslash pairings, I've certainly got no problem with the concept. I try to ship gender-neutral, honestly. But... there's a lot of it. Like... I love the PW fandom like whoa, it's awesome and great and yay. Hell, I even sort of ship Phoenix/Edgeworth, though not all that hugely. But on the (crazy awesome) PW kinkmeme... it's flood after flood of P/E E/P NaruMitsu, etc, and in some ways it's almost causing me to resent the pairing XD;

29: I've often imagined my life as a slice-of-life anime. It'd be interesting. >_>

Actually, one of the ideas for an original story bouncing in my mind focuses on a bunch of college students. And if it were to ever get written, I'd definitely have my friends and I as secondary/tertiary characters in the background just for that reason or something >_>

Thank you for the nice, clear, specific example :) I probably should have had one.

I don't find it particularly shocking that what a lot of people are mostly interested in are the two main characters' relationship that was at the core of 2/3 of the trilogy.

It's not the yaoi as yaoi, it's that Phoenix and Edgeworth are the two characters with the most development and the most complex relationship in the series. People are going to be more interested in that than things involving minor side characters. I do a search for a different series (just pulled up Full Moon wo Sagashite, for instance) and the vast majority is het, because that's where the exploratory focus of that story was.

Yes, they do have the most development/complex relationship, I agree. And that's why, I think, the stuff that you/Musouka do works so well, because it's building on that. But I really can't help but feel that most of the stuff on the kinkmeme has nothing to do with it at all. Or what about the other, canon couples that similarly get mostly-ignored?

It's not just P/E, though that's the primary. The yaoi prompts, in general, are the ones that get filled the most. Not saying that het/gen/femslash don't, but it's clear that there is an imbalance.

Not an imbalance that I really find anything particularly inherently wrong in; you know that :P But... it's sort of frustrating to want to contribute something to the meme but not have anything I'm interested in writing XD;

Well, if you're writing for a kinkmeme, the primary focus is going to be what people find hot, Funk. XD; When most of the fic writing populace is female... I don't think there's much anyone can do about that?

In terms in PW in specific, though, think about the nature of the canon couples. As great as Diego/Mia is, their story is complete and finished with definitive closure, and there's just not that much room to work with with them. Gumshoe/Maggey is sweet, but Maggey is a pretty minor side character and they're not the type of characters you can really write a sweeping drama about. (Well, I suppose you could, but it would be excruciatingly difficult.) The same goes for Ron/Desiree. It doesn't help that the series' most popular character is Edgeworth, whose strongest non-familial ties are to men.

It's not that I don't understand where you're coming from. Two of the main fandoms in my life have been Megaman X and Suikoden, which are absolutely dominated by yaoi--none of which I have any personal interest in. But that's fine. As much as I prefer Zero/Iris to Zero/X, or Jowy/Jillia to Jowy/Riou, I can't fault people for writing what they want--especially when the male-male relationships are, again, the exploratory focus and some of the strongest ties in the series.
