Yeah, it almost sounds like a troll secret except it's not a very wanky topic, so I don't know why anyone would bother.

OP, you're definitely a tinhatter. Also why the fuck are you so invested in the relationships of two people who you don't know. That's creepy.

What's a 'tinhatter'? Please excuse my ignorance, it's the first time I've heard that term.

in this context, fans who are 100% convinced of their fan theory despite all evidence, like that their actor otp are secretly dating even if they have wives, kids- also used to indicate their overinvestment in said theory

it comes from the mocking of conspiracy theorists who used to believe they could keep aliens or the government from reading their thoughts by wearing tin foil around their heads, hence tinhatters

A good example would be the 2 Supernatural actors.}:/
One's married, with at least one kid and fandom went nuts when the pregnancy was announced, refusing to believe their OTP wasn't real, that the guy's wife was using him, etc.

Their both married with kids and some tinhatters have even gone so far as to threaten to 'out' them in the press over that fact.

*knows because her LJ is sometimes filled with people snarking about the tinhatters*

Ah. See I don't watch the show or follow the actors, so only knew about the one being married *because* of the tinhatters and secrets here, i believe last year.}:/

Both actors are married and have kids, actually. Doesn't stop the tinhatters, though.

I think it's a troll secret because a conversation about this with some of the exact same arguments happened just a few days ago.
