Honestly the last episode was so tepidly feminist I'm beginning to think the people who worship SM as a feminist icon are full of hot air. I'm also beginning to think the old anime made Sailor Moon as a whole what it is to so many people. Takeuchi almost sounds like a bad writer but I'll reserve judgement on that front.
Re: Sailor Moon Episode Five: Sailor Jupiter
(Anonymous) 2014-09-08 03:26 am (UTC)(link)Maybe. There's the fact that Sailor Moon is over twenty years old and many of the tropes that appeared in it are really overdone in anime/manga now.
The original manga run of Sailor Moon was only fifty two chapters and with such a large cast of characters in such a short run, most of them were underdeveloped. Didn't help that Naoko just kept adding characters.
