Nerdcore got me into rap. I was listening to some nerdcore when I was... probably about 15 or 16, and it got me thinking, and I was like "Why I am listening to some dumb idiots talking about how they enjoy a bunch of stories, when I could listen to people actually telling stories instead?" So then I downloaded some Wu Tang albums and they were great and so I stopped listening to nerdcore. And that's the story of how I'm the whitest person in history.

You know what got me into rap? An Xzibit song on Duke Nukem: Music to Score By.

I don't get it either, but still, every summer I revisit Xzibit's 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz album. S'a good album.

So I guess if I were any whiter I'd be kissing my sister at a Skynard concert.

Now, that being said, I have some nerdcore rapper friends, one of whom I went to school with.

I think what gets me is how terribly segregated it is. Rap is rooted in African-American culture, and yet I can't tell you how many times I heard some goon say "I only listen to GOOD rap like (white guy who raps about video games.)" At least black artists like Mega Ran and Alpha Riff (disclaimer: Alpha Riff is a personal IRL friend of mine) have made a name for themselves.
