I have no idea what happened, but I'm guessing this is related to the OC thread - apparently it escalated after I stopped posting. (I was the anon who asked why OCs with canon characters was a bad thing.) But anyway, I think OCs are a touchy subject, which sucks because they can be done well. It's just that good fanfic writers are pretty much told "yeah, don't write them," and there's not much support in between for writing thme well.

Yeah...

I see a lot of people who respond to something done poorly with "just don't do it"

It's a shame, but...well it happens.

TBH I don't get the fuss about badfic. Really like , so it exists big deal its gonna happen. I don't feel bad for those who happen upon a fic they don't like (unless the summary was really misleading) because honestly? At the end of the day its free and there's a back button. I mean hell when I was younger I had massively limited computer time so often I had to save a WHOLE fic to a floppy. I had three minutes to decide whether it was worth saving. Did I end up saving bad fanfic. Hell yeah I did. But I didn't blame the author for writing it and putting it online. I blamed my own freaking self for making a wrong choice. Then I moved on.

So people , who often have the luxury of being able to download fics faster or sometimes have more free time, that rage when they wasted time on a fic? Eh not much sympathy.

...and that probably sounds kinda cold. Sorry about that.
