Computer advice?

[personal profile] kallanda_lee 2014-09-08 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a lenovo thinkpad and it has this annoying thing where thinks like screen brightness, microphone volume etc are keyboard shortcuts and then I accidentally touch those keys and whoops I'm just typing and suddenly I'm adjusting screen brightness. Any way to turn this off forever?

I don't know, and that hasn't happened to me (I have the same laptop) because I guess I don't type with the numbers very often? I do, however, really wish they'd set it up so the F# keys are the actual keys and the keyboard shortcuts are the FN option, instead of the other way around. It seems pretty stupid to me. :|

(I have accidentally gone into airplane mode when trying to use spell check, or muted my comp while trying to pull up Origin chat)

It may involve having to go into the BIOS and seeing if you can swap the FN key functionality (assuming that's the root of your problem like diet_poison suggested.)
