On a more serious note, I'm not surprised. If you browse Minecraft fanart, there's a fair few drawings of what un-pixelated Steve? might look like, most of them pretty hunky. There's even a shipper fanbase for Herobrine/Steve?, as if just to prove that yaoi fangirls get into literally everything.
