I completely disagree with you. I thought Jane was awesome in both movies.

Well, if you like cardboard characters that do nothing but stand around looking pretty for half the film, which is essentially what Jane did in the second movie.

Jane could've been a good character, but she wasn't. They did a shitty job developing her character, and the forced unbelievable romance and the fact they made it clear she lost all independence in the second film because Thor the Hunk left made it all worse.

All the human characters suck in the Thor films, and Jane is done the least justice because she suffers from Bland Love Interest Syndrome. There's no denying her characterization in the second film was bullshit. Giving up science because the dude she knew a week left and isn't over it two years later? Fuck off, Marvel. She did nothing in the sequel film except some science bullshit at the end. (And, literally, her only motivation to investigate the building in the beginning of the film was 100% Thor related.)

It's almost like people have differing opinions or something.

I really liked Jane in the first movie but kind of agree with you about the second. I actually liked the little beginning romance in the first movie, but not Jane losing interest in everything because Thor left, and still moping two years later. She deserved better.

Agreed. Thor 2 was honestly a mess in regards to both her and Thor imo. They were easily the blandest things in the movie and completely devoid of any of the charm they had in the first one.

That's a good point: Thor wasn't done any favours by the writers of Thor 2, either.

Sorry for the late reply; had to hit the hay last night.

I think this is going to boil down to irreconcilable differences, but fundamentally disagree with what you're saying here.

I made a post a while back addressing some of the stuff you bring up if you're interested:
