I've never played the game, but I'm pretty sure those stories are implying that someone stuffed the bodies of murdered children into stuffed animal mascot costumes.

There's a boatload of theories!

One example, that a security guard kidnapped and murdered the kids. So the animatrons come to life guided by the ghosts of murdered kiddos to take their vengeance upon security guards by hunting them down and stuffing them into suits.

The backstory's there. It's fun to discuss and try to sort out, like, what IS the bite of 87 all about? And … What IS golden Freddy? And what's with the teeth at the back of Chica's mouth? Why was Foxy decommissioned? Why does he hide? What's with Bonnie and Chica's creepy human-like groans?

It's just fun.
