I always get all heartwarmed seeing happy old couples. My grandparents were, well, not, and seeing people be happy, finding each other late in life or staying together since they were teenagers just fills me with a lot of hope.

are you one of those people who always gets really happy when you see old people holding hands in public? because I am one of those people

(and I agree so much about the hope thing. sometimes it feels like nobody is committed to their chosen partners anymore. :/ and according to the math these ladies have been together in their late teens. I can't imagine what they must have gone through together; 70 years ago I think a lot of people in the US didn't even know homosexuality was a legit thing...)

I am totally one of those people. I just really like seeing people happy, especially if they have someone to be happy with. 1 happy + 1 happy = like 5 happy. It really is more if you're with another person.

I guess, I see all the bitterness, divorce, even abuse growing up (seriously, only one happy couple in my family), and every one telling me "it'll never last" because I married my high school sweetheart, and I can look at couples like these ladies and go, "Suck it and shut up. We do too have a chance. We're going to be awesome when we're 70!"

You can do it! I think it really is about love and sacrifice and willingness to work at being married. Many people don't realize how much work it really is, even if you are really in love.

Oh, I know we can do it. I have every faith in us. It does take work, but it's only half the load, I guess. It's work I really enjoy doing. It just gets really old hearing people be so negative at you.
