I have this weird love-hate thing with character bashing. I used to have a weakness for those HP fics where Dumbledore and the Weasleys and Hermione were evil and Harry became friends with Death Eaters and Slytherins. It didn't seem remotely plausible but I was weirdly fascinated by them.

I love fics with good!Tom Riddle. It's fascinating how authors move the plot around to reach this point. From 'he didn't kill the parents' and 'he was insane because horxuces' to 'no matter about that, he's good and that's it'.

Actually I think it's a popular trope in HP and less so in other fandoms.

I'm fond of the insane one myself, where Tom Riddle is a separate identity from Voldemort who slowly took over as Riddle went too deep experimenting with dark magic but his original self is still in there deep down.

I like it too! It's pretty logical. Evil, money grabbing Weasley is more unbelievable, though it also could be fun.

It's been a while since I read any of these fics so I don't have any saved right now, but I can do some searching and see if I can find something for you that's along the lines of what I was talking about.

Though I'm almost tempted to dust off some of my old ideas...
